Walter Spring is currently available for a position as an Oracle Developer, Development DBA, or DBA. His more recent experience has been in the Developer role but always wanting to know more about the internals of the database he took the Oracle DBA 6.0 course soon after beginning the Oracle phase of his career. He has continued with both formal courses and self-directed training right up to the present. His most recent Oracle course was RAC 9i (Real Application Clusters). More recently he explored the new features of Oracle 11g and upgraded his Developer and DBA certifications accordingly. His most recent training has been to assemble and configure an Oracle 11g RAC system using Automatic Storage Management (ASM) with the database resident on an Open Source Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. Having studied industrial psychology before starting out in IT, he is always attentive to ergonomic considerations when designing any user interface. Apart from designing and building user friendly interfaces he has also obtained a measure of satisfaction from reworking backgound processes to perform better, sometimes 10 to 50 times faster. For some jobs this has meant the difference between fitting the available batch window or failing to complete in the available time. During his 15 years in the UK he was first accepted as a Member by the British Computer Society, then by the Engineering Council as a Chartered Engineer, and then by the European Federation of National Engineering Associations ( FEANI, from its initials in French) as a Eur.Ing. In 2006, he was elected a Fellow of the British Computer Society. His current Oracle certification is in both the Developer and DBA streams. Please follow the links below to the respective items: |
